Starting off (Mostly) Strong - 2018 Goals

Hi everyone.

I created this blog so that I could hold myself accountable for all of my personal goals without clogging up my YouTube channel. I want to keep that focused on helping other people with their productivity and achieving their goals, but I still wanted to keep people updated on mine if they are interested.

I also want to include lessons learned about myself, my goals, and the art of pursuing goals in general. As a human, I feel like I learn something new every day about one of these areas. I will share them on here in case they end up being useful for people who are pursuing similar goals.

To start, let's list off my monthly goals for January 2018. (If you're interested in the yearly goals that these are combined with, let me know.)

  1. Get into a workout schedule.
  2. Get into a YouTube posting schedule.
  3. Clean out and organize my makeup, hair products, and skincare.
  4. Clean out my wardrobe and donate the things I don't wear anymore.
  5. Make progress on my novel.

In terms of a gym schedule, I ended up going a whopping once this week. Not the start I was looking for on a gym schedule, but that's okay. You don't have to start on your goals perfectly right out of the gate. It's okay to be slow going. With that being said, I'm going to start going to the gym in the mornings before work. Right now, the plan is to go every morning except Tuesday, which is upload day, but once I get into the swing of uploading, I would like to go every weekday.

For those of you who don't know, I posted my first YouTube video this week! It's about setting reasonable and attainable goals for the new year. Please give it a like and subscribe to my channel if this type of content interests you. I should be able to get into the groove of posting once a week on my channel during the month of January. If it seems like I can manage it, I might even move to posting twice a week!

My bathroom organization is coming along. I organized my eyeshadow palettes (I don't even want to tell you how much space that takes up...), and I sorted everything into their categories. Everything is just sitting in bags right now until I get containers to store it all in. Amazon, here I come!

Not gonna lie, I didn't even start cleaning out my wardrobe. I'm a little bit mad at myself, but I'm really trying to not get mad at myself when there are goals I don't complete. I'm human, and it's entirely possible (and okay!) for me to not have time to accomplish everything I set up for myself. With that being said, hopefully I can make a dent in that project during this upcoming week.

As for my novel...I wrote about 500 more words on it before I realized that my simple 28-point plot outline wasn't going to be sufficient. I need to significantly increase the level of detail in my outline before I can continue. It's okay to backtrack on your goals if it's necessary. You want to make sure you're setting yourself up for success in whatever endeavor you choose to pursue. If getting it done faster means not doing it properly, it's not worth it anyway.

That's how I'm progressing so far! I'm 90% happy with how I did this past week, especially because I know that I can continue to get better at my goals as the month goes on. I'll keep you all posted on next week's accomplishments!

Until next time, my dudes,

Emma
